MRCC at the 15th International Conference on Signal Image Technology & Internet based Systems

For the 15th time, international scientists from the fields of signal processing and web technologies came together to discuss their research work at the "International Conference on Signal Image Technology & Internet based Systems" (SITIS). The conference took place in Sorrento (Italy) from 26 to 29 November 2019 and during those 4 days, 3 keynotes and 109 contributions were presented.

The MRCC was represented with three contributions. Hendrik Müller's lecture "On the Utility of Machine Learning for Service Capacity Management of Enterprise Applications" was dedicated to the use of different machine learning methods to use large amounts of log data generated by enterprise applications in order to improve the planning of the required server capacities. The quality assurance of Big Data Systems was the topic of Daniel Staegemann's presentation "Exploring the Specificities and Challenges of Testing Big Data Systems". Furthermore, in his contribution "A holistic view of the server consolidation and virtual machines placement problems", Abdulrahman Nahhas looked at the problem of placing virtual machines on physical servers, since optimizations in this area hold great potential for energy savings in the future. While for the latter two it was the first visit, for Hendrik Müller it was already the second SITIS participation after 2014.
