Representation of pricing master data entity types for products and services of IT service providers in SAP ERP

Interner Betreuer: Dr.-Ing. Johannes Hintsch, Prithvi Raj Adimulam

Motivated by the recent scientific discourse around the industrialization of IT, this project attempts to support the production of IT services with standard business applications such as ERP systems. It focuses on Cloud Service Providers (CSP) and attempts to derive the relevant price components of their offerings. Two prominent providers, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Salesforce are selected and their offerings are analyzed: infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS) and software as a service (SaaS). For IaaS, AWS is analyzed and for PaaS and SaaS, Salesforce is analyzed. The selection justified with Gartner's assessment that these providers are leaders in their market segments. The gathered price components are used to create a general pricing component model, based on the three provider specific models. The general model is used to identify master data entity types in SAP's ERP system in order to be able to implement the pricing schemes of CSPs in such a system. This mapping is finally evaluated by using an ASP's service products and sorting them into the identified master data entity types of the ERP system.
